What spiritual compliance means here
For many Muslim families, a home either accommodates daily practice or quietly works against it. Retrofitting rarely solves it — once a bathroom faces the wrong way, it faces the wrong way for the life of the building. These four decisions were made at the drawing-board stage.
- No legs towards Qibla — bedrooms are laid out so that beds do not require sleeping with feet pointed towards the Qibla.
- No toilet towards Qibla — sanitary fittings are oriented away from the Qibla direction throughout the tower.
- Separate prayer rooms — dedicated prayer halls, including a separate ladies' prayer hall, rather than a shared multi-purpose room.
- Separate wadhu facilities — proper ablution provision adjoining the prayer areas, for men and women independently.
Privacy as a design decision
Purdah observance is difficult in a building where every shared facility is shared by everyone. At Mannat the common amenities are duplicated rather than divided by timetable, so the women of a household are not asked to choose between using a facility and observing privacy.
